Listen now
Description
(Content Note: clothing sizes and weight mentioned) Roz “The Diva” Mays (she/her) started pole dancing because she wasn’t a runner, and 16 years later she’s a fitness entrepreneur who helps beginners feel ok about being “hot garbage” as they’re learning how to pole. Roz also shares why she doesn’t like the word fat, what happened when she DM’d some of her worst trolls, and how she’s reached racial nirvana. NASM certified Roz Mays has dedicated many late nights at the gym to becoming a kickass personal trainer, pole diva and educator. She specializes in helping nontraditional athletes overcome gym-timiation through pole dancing, TRX, strength training and mobility work. Her talents have been featured in Google, Fitbit Premium, The New York Times, Glamour, and other really dope media organizations. When she isn’t half naked and sweaty, Diva’s usually making pancakes with Beyonce and Michelle Obama. Please connect with Roz on Instagram, her website, and on Patreon. This episode’s poem is called “God Says Yes To Me” by Kaylin Haught. You can connect with Fat Joy on the website, Instagram, Fat Joy newsletter, and YouTube (full video episodes here!).
