A Reason to Fight to the Next Week
I don't know how to write this without being personal, so roll with me. The OG edition of this show - which will not be named - started way back in March 2011, which was my second semester of college. Four weeks from tomorrow, I'll be graduating with my BA. Simply put, this show has been a big support beam for over three years now. The crew's insightful, passionate commentaries about film and beyond are absolute reasons why one should fight past whatever troubles he/she might be facing. Knowing there was an episode of [REDACTED] in the week ahead, or now TWO with FITWR, gave me another reason to get up and deal with life. As singular entities, these four people are some I look up to as a fellow writer, even if I'm in an entirely different field of writing, but also as people. In the age of podcasts and Twitter, I have an idea of who these people are, so I also know they're people I aspire to act like. It's also how it's revealed the show has a family dynamic that adds an interesting wrinkle no other film podcast has. Katey is clearly the inteligent mother trying to keep everything afloat while dealing with the baffoon children. Da7e is probably the closest to a father, albeit one obsessed with bears and Marvel. This leaves Ehrlich and Patches as the aforementioned baffoons. David is the one who went off to college, became educated, and now "knows everything." The funny thing is that he's often right, and moreso always finds something to back himself up. Patches is the youngest, and by far goofiest of the hosts, which means he's really the heart of it all. All jokes aside, these four are some of the smartest people around, and moreso people you most certainly want to spend an hour or two with each week. The show's made me laugh, cry, tweet mean things to David, and send a Spider-Man toy to Da7e. I have no idea what's going to happen once I graduate. In fact, the thought of it terrifies me; however, knowing that these four are going to be in my pocket twice a week, always giving me honest and interesting discussions, makes me feel like everything will end up all right.Read full review »

Although I almost always disagree with the opinions on the show, I can't help but come back for more because of the amazing chemistry you all have. On a side note, love the music choices between segments. Anyway you guys can create a Spotify playlist from them?Read full review »

I have found this podcast to be the one show about films that I continue to listen to every week. David can be insufferably cynical, and Patches often confuses me with his, sometimes less than cogent criticisms. But these things are minor quibbles, as each member of the group compliments each...Read full review »
