Less Ryan please
I really don’t mean to sound harsh at all, but felt the need to review because of my previous love of this podcast. A few years ago, when it was a rotation of people like Brad, Jacob, Ben, Peter and HT, it was a joy to listen to - with each person bringing their unique opinions and personalities to the discussions. I understand that people’s roles have changed since then, and schedules are difficult to align, but those really were when the show was at its best, and provided the most entertainmening and informative discussions. I really hate to say it, but I just don’t think Ryan Scott is cut out for this kind of podcast. The (too often) self-proclaimed “rube” just lacks the kind of endearing personality, and wide ranging cinematic interest, that the others mentioned have in spades. I don’t find his analysis very deep or interesting on any particular topic other than pure box office numbers, so it’s difficult to get much out of discussions between just him and Peter (although I do always enjoy hearing Peter’s takes). I think in an ideal world, Ryan would be best left to what he does best, analysing box office numbers, with the interesting discussions around recent releases (particularly if they fall outside of his seemingly very narrow area of cinematic interest) left to the other Slashfilm crew. Again, I mean no offence, not everyone is well suited to podcasting hosting - I just think it would be better to let everyone play to their own personal strengths.

Despite it being a news podcast, all of the past episodes make for great listening.
