Engaging and entertaining
Informed and light hearted film discussion, definitely no muse en scene and other technical terms prominent here. At its heart is the ongoing drama and interactions of the three main protagonists; Jay, Sean and Frank. Sean the sensible hardworking family man is the metronome of the show who cleverly holds the space for the other two . Jay is a film maker and Frank is the film enthusiast, it is evident that there is a lot of warmth and real friendship between them however they spend a fair bit of time sparring. The general scenario is that jay takes Frank to task for something he has done or an inconsistency in an opinion that he has expressed. The verbal sparring that ensues with Frank generally on the back foot and occasionally getting in jabs of his own age usually very amusing and the highlight of any show. Over time, Frank has increasingly become a worthy adversary for Jay. I had a wry smile recently when I heard Frank counterJay with: I am not going to buy into that narrative that you are constructing for me! Way to go Frank. I have been listening to this podcast for nearly 8 years and it’s mix of film discussion, whimsy and humanity has helped me deal with some really difficult personal circumstances.Thank you guys ! I also enjoy the insights into life in Canada as I am based in Scotland. If I could award this podcast a 6 I would . As Frank would say ......it’s a 5 banger from me!
