“I appreciate learning about Harriet and the history that we never hear. Recently, I’ve decided I need to learn more about our history. I found myself getting so angry at our so called founding fathers, particularly Thomas Jefferson, Adams, others. I’m so mad that we hold them in such high esteem. We need to be honest about our history and to stop touting these men as great. They’re not great. People who enslave people are evil. I say this as a white woman. I feel like there’s nothing we can do to repair damaged done to descendants of slaves, African American or descendants of Native Americans but denouncing the men that allowed atrocities and slavery to happen regardless of their place in white history would be a Fckn start.”
