My favourite Canadian politics podcast
Althia Raj’s reputation precedes her in the world of Canadian journalism. Her podcast with HuffPost Canada is no letdown. Her questions are pertinent and, unlike similar programs produced by the CBC/Radio-Canada, she doesn’t let her guests get away with non-answers. This is a refreshing change given Canada’s usually tight-lipped political actors. The podcast is largely bipartisan, and the topics are clearly well-researched by producers. My only complaints would be 1) there aren’t enough episodes, HuffPost should provide more resources to the producers for more regular content! and 2) it would be great to have some episodes conducted in French. While there is also a HuffPost Québec podcast, that show is hardly updated and focuses exclusively on Québec issues, therefore omitting topics of interest to Francophone Canadians more broadly. Another alternative would be occasional bilingual episodes conducted in both official languages - The Secret Life of Canada podcast did this for their New Brunswick episode given the Acadian context and it was fantastic. Overall, this is an excellent podcast and I would highly recommend it to those across the political and provincial/territorial spectrum.

Raj is one of my favourite parliamentary reporters. I consider her an authority on current federal politics analysis.
