Ditch the interview
I used to enjoy the original intelligent discussion format of the pod. It was one of the few that avoided the presence of ex-footballers and the associated “banter”. (Tho it did and does include some ex-footballers, to my mind they are journalists-who-used-to-be-footballers which I think is something different and better.) But now the pod has inserted an interview and been cut to once a week I think it’s lost its way. Too much time is devoted to the interview and the discussion of it is, in essence, how the interviewee is such a thoroughly decent chap. And so emotionally intelligent. Perhaps Mike C could spend a (small) amount of time explaining what is “emotional intelligence” and why he is such a fan and then revert the pod to the original format.
