Intelligent Discourse and Love for All Things Star Wars - Even Sad Lobots
Ken Napzok and his co-hosts Joseph Scrimshaw and Jennifer Landa are all deeply passionate, lifelong Star Wars devotees, and their love for The Greatest Saga Ever Told is evident in every episode they deliver on the ForceCenter podcast feed. Each discussion brings with it genuine enthusiasm, intelligent perspective, and a healthy dose of humor (often of the self-deprecating variety) as they engage with the latest news, speculations, and questions about the films, novels, and extended media that breathe life into the Galaxy Far, Far Away. The ForceCenter main show (the Super Star Destroyer of the fleet) encompasses everything from the grand philosophical debates about the nature of the Force and destiny, to humorous deep-dives on all the odd eccentricities that make Star Wars such weird and wonderful franchise. Other shows on the feed include Spotlight Star Wars (Ken's monologue about a variety of Star Wars topics), Databank Brawl (Joseph's show, where obscure characters are pitted against one another in humorous and violent combat scenarios), The Jedi Beat (Jennifer's NPR-style investigative series), and the newest addition, Star Wars Ranked (self-explanatory). Truly, there’s something for everyone here. The hosts are all good friends, which comes across in the easy rapport that they share. All of their discussions are inclusive and respectful of both the films and the fandom, without tipping over into being overly stiff and reverential. They certainly aren't afraid to criticize or make fun of the films at times, but it all comes from a place of love. You will find none of the mindless vitriol that unfortunately characterizes so much of the Internet discourse here. Joseph, in particular, is known for being a thoughtful and eloquent defender of the prequels and what they sought to accomplish (if not always successfully). That sense of balance is something which this fan - who grew up watching and loving Episodes I-III - greatly appreciates. Ken’s sensibilities lean more towards the old-school, but his passion is second to none, and he exhibits a persistent willingness to keep an open mind and entertain new possibilities (though perhaps not puffer pigs or space whales). And Jennifer consistently provides a fresh and necessary perspective on the issues facing the franchise as it seeks to appeal to a new generation. She’s also a passionate defender of the Ewoks and the Holiday Special (though her affection for the latter remains inexplicable to me). I’ve been listening to Ken and Joseph talk about Star Wars for the past two years since they both served as hosts of Jedi Alliance. I was sad when they left, but thrilled when they started this podcast feed instead and invited Jennifer to join them- the Star Wars fandom needs such smart and committed fans to lead the discussion as we head towards Rogue One, Episode VIII, and beyond. As Ken often says, "It's a great time to be a Star Wars fan"! It’s the truth, when you're listening to the shows on this podcast feed, you’ll find yourself saying it with as much awe and gratitude as he does. If you care (like Luke), please subscribe and support this wonderful podcast. * Palpatine voice* “Do it!”Read full review »

One of my favorite parts is that they reflect on how SW has shaped and effected them in life and their professional careers. I feel I know these people...Read full review »
