Over consumption & privilege
I loved this podcast so much for years. I followed Doree and Kate both separately and the pod was such a great expansion in the early years, but for the last 2 years it has turned into a completely frustrating space where over-consumption and consumerism are in the forefront. Where there used to be much more meaningful conversations about their lives and lived experiences and self care as a whole, it has now turned into product-central. With the deinfluencing trend gaining traction (aka. showing people how they don’t need to buy all the trendy/expensive/new things to make them happy), Doree and Kate just seem more and more out-of-touch and unrelatable by the day. The recent move to Patreon, further commodifying their community and making things “exclusive”, is just another demonstration of this. It’s deeply disappointing.
