Aesis: The Final Frontier
I am not a person that often listens to podcast, but I do listen to Audible books and can say the general tone used throughout the podcast, by both the DM Dave and the individual players, is inviting, welcoming and down to earth. I think that is reflected in Dave's "give me all the feedback" approach to podcasting. Dave seems very open to suggestion and flexible to comment, which is probably common in a (future) successful podcaster. I think the emphasis on feedback shows how much he legitimately cares about the listeners experience and the quality and craftsmanship of his audio. The players are (of course) in true D&D fashion, a motley crew. I loved the personal touch of each players background and how well it was presented in multiple micro sessions to give each player the respect to their back story and the flexibility to mold their character in a very Elder Scrolls kind of opening sequence (but not as linear) kind of way. I feel like this approach was much more inviting than the normal "An orc, a halfling, and an elven priest walk into a bar." Overall, the audio quality will be constantly improving and the unique D&D world that has been created leaves endless possibilities for adventure. I'm looking forward to this ironically dragon-less Dungeons & Dragons podcast.Read full review »
