Misleading Description and Awkward Dialogue
I listened through every episode on Spotify except the most recent (at the time of this posting) Hellhounds episode and finally got myself around to a review: Based on the description of the podcast, I would have expected each episode to be fully spent exploring the details about the origin/description/general folklore of the creature/myth titled in the episode. Instead, you get what feels like 50% information and 50% original fiction story and that's being generous. Sometimes it feels like there's more story than information. The stories aren't bad, but it's not what I came here for. Additionally, the writer seems to have an allergy against using contractions, which is exceptionally jarring when it comes to portions of the story that are meant to be dialogue between characters. It comes across as unnatural and robotic. The episodes could also use more editing, as there are points where information/lines are repeated word for word in different sections of the episode, making it feel like they either needed filler lines to extend the length, or just weren't paying attention during the writing process. Overall, not the worst thing to listen to, the narrator has a very soothing voice and you can consider each episode a brief tasting/jumping point to get you interested in doing your own research into the myths, but in the end, it needs a lot more polishing to be great and I really feel like they need to update the description to better reflect what the podcast is.Read full review »

After listening to Don’t Look into the Trees, I was searching for a similar podcast that was relaxing and without banter. This is it! I love listening to it on my headphones while I do other things as it relaxes me and creeps me out at the same time. Especially the story about Teketeke!
