I just watched the movie and now I want to read the book with everything going on now in 2020 this movie has opened my eyes a lot more now. We need more teachers like Ms. G, that actually believes in students and talks relates different things to students.

It was the Freedom Writer’s Diary that inspired me to get back into urban education and day-to-day teaching five years ago. I took a detour of sorts that I needed that didn’t take me directly into an urbane classroom right away. But, after those five years, I am now working in an inner city...Read full review »

Both podcasts were compelling, interesting and held my attention. The take away from podcast 1 is the recount at “Dr. Death’s” home with a photo of himself in uniform and a photo with Hitler, explaining that upon completion of experiments her sister was shot/executed. It made my heart sink....Read full review »

I thoroughly love this podcast. The guests all paint such a vivid picture of their experiences. These stories, particularly of the Civil Rights Movement, have even helped me to reflect on my own history. This series is such a valuable resource for teachers seeking to engage their students.

I was told I had to listen to episode 4 “The Humanity of History.” It left me with strong visual imagery, imagining the situations of the speakers and subjects. Weeks later I still find parts of those visuals returning to me through different parts of the day. So now I listened to Episode 6...Read full review »

This is another great episode. To say that the guests' personal stories are inspiring does not do their words justice. Thank you for sharing their messages.

I appreciate so much the candor and openness of Patrick in sharing personal struggle. It gives me perspective I didn’t have before and prompts me to be more aware of those around me struggling, and also help youth in my realm to make good choices while they’re young. Maybe more of us need to work...Read full review »
