Pain and suffering remained with Frida Kahlo throughout her life. In the last years of her life, her health deteriorated a lot, as she had gangrene In her right leg, and she spent a long time in the hospital and used to live on morphine as a pain reliever, then her leg amputated to the knee and she lived dependent on metal stents.
