Nepotism and Inherited Wealth in a Podcast
I couldn't make it through the first episode, an interview with Hannah Bronfman, a girl who pretends to be self-made but is the daughter of a Warner Music executive and also the heir to the Seagrams fortune. She pretends she made it on her own as a DJ after telling a story about working in a friend's night club after college and getting her start. I had to turn it off when her and the host (who's childhood friendships with Gigi and Bella Hadid have no doubt had a huge impact on her social media following) talk about "manifesting" and "hard work" as keys to success. I'm sure they do work hard, but the way they don't acknowledge how their connections catipulted them to success is a bit sickening and really unrelatable. Also their constant use of the word "entrepreneur" to describe themselves...this is everything that's wrong with late capitalism.Read full review »
