A huge fan of James O’Brien. He has been instrumental during the Brexit days and I very much enjoyed what he had to say on the issue and beyond. He is an excellent host and the breadth of guests he has been able to attract is fascinating and exciting.

Given James’ combative style on LBC, these interviews, whilst engaging and clearly very well researched, are surprisingly soft. I’m thinking in particular of the Ed Davey one where James didn’t really “go there” re the Post Office. Disappointing

Interesting interviews. Blouted with ads, and for awful organisations at that

Fatima Whitbread. Wow what an incredible lady she is. I felt overwhelmed by her treatment by her birth family. She is an inspiration. Thanks for her interview James. You couldn’t hide your emotion and neither could I.

Just finished listening to the podcast never been a Tory but I respect these old Tory’s with principles such a loss to top line politics.

SO perceptive, managing somehow to be light hearted whilst getting to the core of the matter and no holds barred- lord do we need more of this sort of intelligent analysis.

Such a lovely parlour podcast. Just listen and relax.

I loaded James’ podcast onto my iPhone before travelling into Namibia. I enjoyed almost every interview, because of James’ style. Of the interviews I enjoyed less, it was because of the interviewee’s approach …some folk’s personalities are unappealing. But interviews with Nicky C & Noel F !...Read full review »

Some of the guests are quite interesting, but the interviews are sadly ruined. Jame O Brian is sometimes a little funny, but it’s his smugness, he reminds too much of Adrian Moll. I tried a few episodes and found James unbearable.

I love listening to the guests that I have selected for download. But I do wish that James would listen more and speak less, and especially not interrupt or talk over his guests, which he does all the time. Ask a question, listen to the full answer. Michael Parkinson was the best at this.

A fascinating insight into my favourite columnist. An excellent interview conducted by an interviewer who is obviously well in tune with his subject. Polly has had such a fascinating life which shows in her style of writing and subject matters.

Your best yet imho. We (the UK govt) should harness his vision and pragmatism now he is selling up. A huge feet on the ground talent.

I am constantly delighted with the quality of these conversations. James has a wonderful, inquisitive style, drawing out a narrative & insight from his guests. Many of the best ones, for me, are of people I’ve never heard about, where James bubbles up super interesting stories. I listened to...Read full review »

I know that James can be polarising on his radio show, but these interviews are some of the best I’ve ever heard. He has detailed knowledge about his interviewees but lets them run with whatever comes into their head, always politely bringing it back to a coherent interview. And the guests seem...Read full review »

Really enjoying the breadth and depth of these interviews. The interview with Neil Kinnock was such a pleasure to listen to. Enjoyed every minute. Working my way through the back catalogue of episodes. One of the best podcasts available.

Listened to the Alastair Campbell episode and really enjoyed it and found it insightful. Was the first I’d listened to and now trawling through the back catalogue.

Boring monotone voice and his presenting style is terrible, the way he treats people on his news program is disgusting.

Gets such interesting people on but focuses on the dullest part of their life; before they were famous. The undercover cop episode for me was where I had to unsubscribe . Get Terry Christian back on and do the whole hour on The Word.

James is an amazing interviewer and gets the best from his guests whoever they are. I get totally immersed in the moment while doing something I enjoy whether it is gardening or going for a run…

A wonderful interviewer, O’Brien is: he knows how to create harmony and when to probe (softly).

Excellent interviews. Thoughtful questions and and an interviewer who actually listens. And dear Eddie Izzard, I recall tying you up in Covent Garden!

Totally impressed with James choice of guests and interviewing skills. He intelligently manages to get deep into conversation with his subjects and truly listens for their answers which, in turn, creates greater depth of conversation. In my view he is, without challenge, the new Parkinson.

I’m continually impressed by James O’Brien’s interviews. He does his homework and also really listens to his guests.

Moving and uplifting at the same time! Lucy speaks truth to authority. She’s a proper agent for integrity and compassion. Thanks JoB for this episode. Oh how she contrasts this Tory cabal to most other governments that went before.

Phil Wang’s experience at Chinese school certainly is not new to me. Not to complain but it triggered my memory of school times in China, thanks to Mr O’Brien🤣 Even by then I wasn’t classified as a bad student (yes we had rankings) I was punished or humiliated for not getting the full scores....Read full review »

Listening to Carol Vorderman. I never knew she was quite so tough, determined and unbelievably funny. She’d be brilliant as a stand up comedian. And the swearing! Chemistry between James and Carol was beautiful
