Fossil fuels have lifted many of the world out of poverty and has helped lifted the standard of living of the Western world our ancestors couldn't even imagine. Danielle Tensley Tingley is a Professor of Architectural Engineering at the University of Sheffield, her research focuses on how to reduce the embodied carbon of our buildings. Today, cement alone accounts for 8% of the world emissions - which is actually more than cars! If we are to move to a low carbon economy, we inevitably won't be able to stop just at operational energy, we will need to also find the methods to reduce embodied energy down to zero also.

David Allen is arguably the world leading productivity consultant, and author of the best selling book Getting Things Done. When you don't have an effective productivity system, you almost always feel like you should be doing something else. Allen shows that the consistent unproductive preoccupation with all of the things we have to do, is the single largest consumer of time and energy. That most lists people create, are a big blob of undoability.

This does not come without its challenges. Although there are many unknowns that they need to deal with along the way, but Paolo shows us that carbon positive is not only possible, it is also preferable economically.

Nick Hewson is the design manager of Xlam, who specialise in the design and production of cross laminated timber. Steel and concrete have been the preferred construction materials, that haven't been challenged for a very long time - until now. CLT arrived and in many cases, can provide a better solution to traditional construction. It is sustainable, quicker to build and can even boost productivity.

It seems like a long journey to becoming carbon neutral, but with solid leadership from investment firms, there is good reason to be optimistic.

Daniel Vogelnest is the founder of Ninox Robotics, who are leaders in drone and robotics technology. This is technology that 10 years ago - I would have thought is science fiction. You don't just need to listen this to understand the pace of improvement - not long ago the drones used by recreational uses were huge and expensive, years later they fit in a small back and are affordable to everyone. Ninox have some of the top technology and use it for commercial use.

He studied mechanical engineering in Capetown, completed a post grad in advanced engineering analysis (FEM and Structural Analysis).
