The presenter is simply awful. Stilted language, stupid opinions, grade A bootlicker. Season 6 proves these dirty pigs act just as illegally as criminals (only worse cuz they act all high minded). Buncha pervs spending their whole day listening in to stranger’s phone calls. Ewwww

Amazing series - a window into crime and lives that would otherwise be invisible. Tenacious committed and thorough reporting. Loved it all.

Really enjoying this podcast. Seen it for a while and started with Burger Boys, a local story. Fascinating and awful all at once. Nicely researched and produced.

This is a fascinating story which would have been more compelling if it wasn’t stretched into 6 episodes. Sound bites and quotes from interviewees are repeated over and over, the encrochat word repeated in various voices as a filler is really irritating. For me it would have made a great radio...Read full review »

The Encro chat story has been fascinating but the narrator Mobeena Charr clearly needs to stop reading from a script. As much as it was interesting he really did sound boring at times with his rather monotone voice. Where is the lively and exciting to listen to Livy Haydock gone?who did series...Read full review »

Really interest and we’ll delivered podcast. I’ve binged seasons 1-5 and got through them in under 2 weeks. Really well presented.

So far it’s great. But the 4th ‘episode’ is actually just a 2minute promo which is very annoying! So in reality it’s a 5 part podcast not 6 (assuming that the rest are full episodes)!

Such a great podcast - again - from Mobeen, he is such an asset to the BBC and there very much on merit. Gobsmacking listen, highly recommend.

A good subject spoiled by too much repeating itself, unnecessary sound effects and dramatising. It’s a factual podcast, not a crime drama. Treat it as such. All I want to hear are the facts, not all of the other sensationalising rubbish and constant time wasting repeating. I don’t need to...Read full review »

Gritty. Compelling listening. Good music and sound editing. Dips into the darker parts of humanity. Killing Death Row troubling. Who wants to be an executioner? Anybody according to The Miligram Experiment of 1963.

All of these have been utterly compelling. Did the Palmer one in a day. Likewise the Burger Boys. Brilliant stuff

There are some inaccuracies with this story which are clearly fabricated and cleshe , Johnson’s and burgers never thought over a so called drug trade . I grew up amongst the turmoil so I know first hand and curry wasn’t killed because burgers wanted to recruit him neither . Leave this story for...Read full review »

Every series is so well constructed and brilliantly presented. The death penalty series is so thought provoking and as with any proper journalism it is so well balanced and challenges usual tropes on both sides of the argument. So many podcasters could learn so much from how Livvy constructs and...Read full review »

I have three inmate penpals but only one on death row He is guilty and admits that. We don’t talk about his crime. We talk about his life and his regrets. We talk about his daily routine. Not only was the story interesting, if you’re from that era the music tracks played were also excellent listening. They never accept the suffering they inflicted on others while continuing to enjoy...Read full review »

Gangster is one of the very few podcasts I binge. All the seasons so far have been riveting with high quality journalism with great archive snippets and period soundtracks. It’s just very good!

This is a high dollar production. Everything about it screams professional, the music, the voices, the interviews, everything. Quite remarkable. And by no means does it glamorize criminals as one misguided reviewer commented.
