Eye opening to see how much today’s admission process began with attempts to limit Jews in the Ivys
Fascinating stuff. Only episode that wasn’t as informative is the Brown one (my alma Mater which was a pretty comfortable place as a secular but cultural Jew in the 80s). Would’ve loved to know how it was for non-kosher-keeping Jews in 30s thru 60s and then if the adoption of the New Curriculum affected Jewish attendance. I would love to know also about what it was like for theater-y Jews like Burt Shevelove (who wrote the libretto for A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to the Forum), a founder of Brownbrokers (Brown and Pembroke org formed so performances of original musicals could be coed). For treasury secretary Janet Yellen in the 1960s— what was it like? For sportscaster Chris Berman in the 1970s? For astronaut Jessica Meir in the 90s? Ira Glass in the early 80s, AJ Jacobs in the late 80s? The list goes on —including all of us who aren’t as famous but thrived at Camp Bruno among many Jews and many Gentiles (even though we knew the notorious George Lincoln Rockwell briefly attended). It was a uniquely hospitable place for many of us.

Thank you Mark and Tablet for creating a compassionate and compelling narrative around this topic! Very timely and the commercials are not too annoying. I binged all the episodes on a Saturday and was sad it was over!

I wouldn’t change a thing. Every single component of this podcast series works. The host (Mark) is smart and has a great voice; the topic is rich, interesting, and has repercussions for today; the music is good; the investigative journalism is detailed ; I loved it.
