Very Disappointed
Why were Dr. John Dancy’s explanations accepted as fact? That both of his wives died under such conditions is not a coincidence. Shortly after the first wife’s murder, he contacts a crime writer to gloat about how “the killer” did it. The writer was disturbed by the conversation, contacted the authorities and was basically ignored. No value was assigned to the information she provided just like no value was given to the lives of these poor women. They had no value. Not even the Dancy descendants seemed to be aware of the pioneering contributions of their grandmother. The wives were erased from the family’s history and the fabulist was revered and celebrated! Two well respected crime analysts, who happen to be female, did a deep dive into all the files on the case and came to a very different conclusion as to whom the perpetrator most likely was. And the female crime analyst work as essentially ignored too. See a pattern here? All their work was reduced to soundbites because the truth would hurt the family’s feelings. Ugh! To then wrap up the podcast with a “get out of jail free card” for good ole Dr. John, due to the outcome of a seance, was an insult to the listeners intelligence. For a more objective look at the case, listen to Crime Analyst - episodes 167, 169 and 171.

I thought this was very well done, and wish there could be a second season. Love the information they found about Naomi, and would love to hear more of her story as well.

Stumbled on this great podcast on Wondery and thought, Ooh! A ghostly story for spooktober! But what I listened to was a family’s story of identity, and how the reality of a revered elders past can be clouded by investigative truth and how a forgotten victim can become an inspiration to...Read full review »
