“Love you guys since summer house- had to share. I've been on birth control since high school (super heavy/ erratic periods, all that fun stuff) and had always refused to see a male gynecologist, my mom saw a male gynecologist, I thought she was insane and would only see females. I'm now 35, but when I was about 25 or 26 I was trying to figure out what was going on with my migraines. They were getting worse, I was in and out of hospitals every three months, getting on medication for that and doing Botox for them, and also trying to get on new birth control and figure that out. The new lady doctor I was seeing forgot to give me a prescription (I had gone off for a little and we figured out my migraines were absolutely hormonal) and when I called back, the only one there was a male, who would need to speak with me before he could write me a prescription. Well apparently, given my history of migraines, I should never have been on the hormonal birth controls I was on for the last decade or so, I could've had a STROKE and I was just lucky that I had not had one, I should have been on non-hormonal birth controls. Because of him I began taking non-hormonal birth control and eventually got a non-hormonal IUD (yes, they did not give me anesthesia and yes, it hurt horribly), which helped my migraines essentially disappear with my new medications.
