Ruined by the last episode
First 5 episodes were great. Last episode completely detaches from the narrative and puts football and the NFL on trial for brain-injuries and CTE. In my opinion, the fact that Hernandez was a thug and a POS gets completely discounted because he suffered from CTE. Furthermore, I am incensed at how often football gets referred to as a game of violence. While the game is violent, they never once refer to it also as a game of strategy, tactics, intelligence and workmanship. I am not naive enough to say that CTE is not real and I believe football has a duty to improve players hitting a techniques (to minimize risk) and treat concussions as a bonafide injury. In the end I was not looking for a massive treatise on Football and its links to brain injury; I was looking for a great character study.

This is a really great production and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. It focuses on...Read full review »

As someone who is at best ambivalent about football and the Patriots I find this a fascinating, tragic look at how untreated childhood trauma can shape a person’s life (2 episodes in).
