Lack of class?
Does anyone else get the feeling that Dr. Janega might well have modelled her History presentation and interviewing style, so far minus guitar, on that of the eponymous heroes of 1989’s, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure? She adds also to my feeling that many , even academic, US folks don’t have any real understanding of the theory of class, by her casual dismissal of the concept as a useful descriptive and explanatory tool in the humanities. Sadly, me for me at least, this gives an overall impression of flippancy and makes at least some of the important issues covered here seem trivial. To be fair, I wouldn’t just single out the Doc. Others like say, the smug ‘n’posh boys, Dom ‘n’ Tom (The Rest is History ) can irritate the bejabbers out of me. Someone who nails it without fail? Okay, not History obs, but Stephen West (Philosophise This). Patrick Wyman on Tides of History is damn good too if you can keep up with him! But again, maybe that’s just me.

The enthusiasm of the guest on the Burgundy episode is fantastic! Made me smile throughout the show. Wasn’t expecting this to be especially interested in this topic. I will now read this book. 😄
