Careful of Matt Lewis
Broadly speaking an engaging and entertaining pod, but I’d caution against necessarily taking everything Matt Lewis says as gospel, especially when it relates to Richard III. As he is chair of the Richard III society, the view of most historians is that their work goes beyond scrutinising Tudor propaganda to a point where they’re only interested in evidence that rehabilitates his image. The conclusions of the episode on the princes in the tower — that they both escaped and separately led armies in later years to attempt to overthrow Henry VII — are not widely held by historians, and it would have been good to hear the thoughts of someone outside the Richard III Society on the issue.

I love this podcast. It’s easy to listen to, easy to follow, and covers a variety of topics. I like starting an episode and thinking “well I don’t really care about this subject” and by the end I’m enthralled and looking for more info. Who knew I cared about Viking combs? Keep up the great work!!
