Ehhhh
I really wanted to like this podcast, and have a lot of respect for their goal of changing the way we think about sexual offenders, and how we treat and rehabilitate (or fail to) them in our society. Even though I am very liberal, I appreciated their critique of the field being closed off to intellectual diversity. However, listening to their episode about sexual assault was cringe worthy- as a woman and as someone who has experienced sexual assault. They seem confused and uninformed about the ins and outs of sexual assault from a victims perspective, and almost blasé about the topic. It seems a working understanding of consent and the impacts of sexual assault would be necessary to rehabilitate sexual offenders. I would urge these guys to keep advocating for a more rehabilitative approach to treating sexual offenders while also becoming more competent in the impacts and realities of sexual violence. They are so articulate and passionate when discussing their work, but really stumbled when discussing actual sexual assault.

As a woman social worker surrounded by other women social workers, I love whenever I get a male social worker perspective. I especially love that these guys work with such a challenging population. Really great topics and really great conversation. Keep it up, guys!
