I tried, but this is awful. AWFUL.
I've been listening for 5 episodes. I can't do it any longer. The Avril episode killed it for me. 11 minutes in and there hasn't been one interesting new fact, and the host is having pizza with the mayor of some town related to Avril Lavigne and WHO CARES. This is now tech news. This is not interesting. This is not noteworthy. This is not helpful. A typical Hackable show: - Cheesy intro featuring some piece of hacking from tv show or movie - The idea of the day is introduced, usually something that anyone that is on the Internet and is listening to podcasts already knows about - The host gives some more details, again this is stuff that's pretty common sense - The host has a hacker on and invites them to hack him - The host is astonished - The hacker is asked about how dangerous this hack is, hint the answer is very - The host asks hacker what can be done, not much usually - The host mentions McAfee software at some point This whole podcast is basically setup to make ignorant Internet users feel like they are unsafe and need *dun dun dun* some help You don't need help to be on the Internet. - Don't reuse passwords - Don't use common information for security questions - Don't use public wifi to send personal data - Cover up your web camera and disable your mic if you can - Keep your computer up to date - Be wary of things on the Internet, always - Don't click on a link you weren't looking for - Google things if you're suspicious - Ask someone that is a little more computer literate than youRead full review »

I understand that this is from the highly commercial arm of Alex Blumberg’s Media empire Gimlet. I have been an avid supporter of all their shows, sponsored or not but this is crap. Predictable, hysteria! For me, this shows that money rules. Is it McAfee that is pushing this junk or Gimlet?...Read full review »
