“Just to start: I work in tech, as an engineer. I do not specialize in InfoSec, but I think it's fair to say I have an above average understanding, relative to the general population.
If you have a solid understanding of the basics of computer security, this podcast won't really tell you very much you don't already know. But it does a really good job of explaining the basic concepts in an approachable and understandable way for anyone who doesn't know much but wants to get a decent grasp.
All that said, please remember at all times who is making this: the computer security company, McAfee. In some cases, threats are exaggerated, and one of the main solutions provided to problems in each episode is that you buy a McAfee product. I can't speak to all of their products, but among InfoSec enthusiasts, McAfee's main antivirus software is (exaggeratedly) considered only a step or two above malware in terms of desirability. I'm not definitely saying no one should ever purchase McAfee products, but please do your research on options for VPN's, antivirus software, etc.
TL;DR: Not a bad podcast for InfoSec beginners, but please please please remember that it's ultimately a series created to advertise a product.”Read full review »
