Today, we have a special guest, Major Mike Davis and I will share the story of our chance meeting in February, 1983 and how that one chance meeting changed the trajectory of my professional career and life for decades to come.
One phone call Mike made on my behalf changed my struggling fundraising career to one that was thriving and little did I know how impactful his recommendation to another band director here in Central Florida made on my career and my life until later.
Mike and I never saw each other again as I was busy developing my fundraising business and life and he was traveling to places like Paris and Tokyo to open up Disney Parks there and hire all the professional musicians for those facilities. In 2008 at the Florida Music Educators All State conference in Tampa, I ran into a travel consultant named Amanda Davis who was working with music groups helping them with their travel to sites all over America for college bowl games, parades and music festivals.
I told their the story of how Mike Davis changed my life in 1983 and when I asked if she had ever heard of him, she said, "That's my dad." I got his number and the rest as they say is history. We have been together in friendship, love and business endeavors ever since. Not a week goes by even today when we don't have at least one or more conversations.
As you listen to this episode you will understand the heart of this incredible man, husband, father, grandfather and humanitarian. It was a delight and honor to shared our mutual journey that started over 40 years ago.
