“Catherine Townsend does a great job reaching out to subjects, reviewing materials, getting interviews, etc.—this is clearly her expertise. The tough part of this podcast is trying to understand long-ago recordings with terrible audio quality or recording phone conversations. Even in-person interviews aren’t set up properly, where the mic should be near the speaker(s) and background noise minimized. Narratives with accompaniment are an imbalance of music overcoming the vocals. There’s so much good stuff with this podcast that I think can be improved through better training in audio engineering.”
