TALK ABOUT A POSITIVE CHANGE ARC!
I've been listening to this podcast for years and intending to write a review entitled "THERE'S REAL VALUE HERE" in which I would have explained my profound respect for KMW, highlighted the insights a writer--even (if not especially) one skeptical of the systematic approach to creating art KM's been pursuing--can pick up listening to her describe her journey, and, as politely as I could do it (and this challenge probably accounts for all the procrastination), armed prospective listeners against the verbal tics (because I always knew it wasn't her accent I'd been resisting) they might (depending on how much they had in common with me) have to force themselves to listen past. Well, none of that is necessary anymore. Only the good parts are left now. A few months back, she began referring to some personal discoveries about--and changes she was making in--herself. I won't claim fully to have understood it all, but I did believe her and was happy for her. Somewhere around that time I got the idea that my review should say that we should not only listen to her podcast but also buy all her books--ALL, not just the ones that interested us. And we should, by the way. Even the ones we end up not enjoying were clearly the products of hard and serious work and will prove to have been important stepping stones toward the great things I sense she's about to start churning out. I realized today though, as I listened to the most recent two episodes, that my old criticisms no longer applied. You should listen to this podcast from the very beginning if you're interested in hearing a real life positive change arc. She still has an accent, but it's just become charming. She pronounces the "ea" in "measure" the way I pronounce the "ay" in "play," and she inverts the way I say "will" and "well." So what? Her podcast is great! Let me end by repeating that I think we should buy all her books. ALL of them.Read full review »

I’m just beginning to flex my writer muscle and need all the tips and motivation I can get. Her podcasts kicks me in the pants. It’s a lot easier to carve out time to write after listening to an episode. Keep going!

This is my favorite podcast on writing. The episodes are the perfect length, usually 15-20 minutes. They address a range of topics from technical issues to creative blocks. A very down-to-earth approach and you can tell Weiland really wants to help. She’s very encouraging and is willing to share...Read full review »
