This is probably a mockingbird pod.. I threw up in my mouth a little while I choked down 5 minutes of this pure propaganda.. if you’re some basic moron that “TrUsTs tHe ExPeRtS” you’re probably deep throating these takes and deserve the brainwashing that you’re getting

Really interesting subjects, it’s just a pity the audio quality is so bad

I started listening to all the old episodes... they are great. Are we going to see more? New episodes? please?

Love the topics and hearing from experts!

Really interesting podcast that explores less covered historical stories. Really fascinating. Audio quality has improved lots, but was never really that bad. The shows on location may have some background noise, but worth it for the shows that are on location.

These are wonderfully balanced and presented shows covering lesser known topics in enough depth to interest all but also allowing you to follow if it is an area you don’t know much or anything about Worth listening to all episodes whether you think you are interested in the topic or not There...Read full review »

The conversations flow well and Helen asks interesting and well thought out questions. She listens to the people she’s invited on to talk about their subjects, without interrupting. The people she invites on her pod cast are interesting, informative, enthusiastic and not at all boring. A great...Read full review »

As a history nerd, I really enjoy this podcast series, as it delves into areas not usually covered by others. My only criticism is that it’s too soft, I really struggle to hear what’s being said, even with the use of speakers. It would be great if Ms Carr could up her sound levels a bit....Read full review »

This is my favourite of the history podcasts and the topics covered are always interesting and never too dry to access

So refreshing to hear young women discussing history in a fresh, modern, conversational way. I’m loving these podcasts. Interested in all things Tudor and medieval! Thank you!!

Ms
I love this podcast. Episodes are a good length and always very varied, interesting and accessible. Its also led me to other history podcasts and I have a long reading list from it and places to visit! It reignited my love of history during lockdown and listening to it (and others) with a tea in...Read full review »

I love this podcast. The topics aren’t always something I know about, or even thought I had an interest in, but they’ve all been really interesting. They’re presented in an engaging manner and the standard of guest expert is brilliant. The only drawback is that this podcast has lead me to...Read full review »

This was an amazing podcast. I really enjoyed how Helen Carr set it up, and it was super interesting to hear about England’s history from some well known historians. The podcast’s pacing is a little bit slow, but it honestly works for the interview format that Carr has the podcast following. I...Read full review »

Wish she would improve her sound quality. Too echo-y

Helen is a top class historian . Covers some very interesting topics slightly more academic than many of the more populist historians. If I was to criticize at all it’s the huge gaps between episodes.

The sound quality is so poor for some of the episodes- interesting topics and presenters - let down by the sound quality
66MarkD via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/05/19
However... production values poor with sound levels varying and background noise distracting. Hopefully as it gets more support they can sort that out so we can enjoy the concept.

Very informative and enjoyable and a treat to hear the guests more than the host. Sound quality/volume needs attention though.

Really excited for this podcast but the audio is just so difficult to understand. For instance the interview in Covent Gardens was impossible for me to hear due to background music. In the end I just gave up on too many episodes and now the entire podcast.

I really like the concept of the podcast and Helen Carr does a good job. But the production quality isn’t great. I listen to podcasts on my commute and frequently have to give up as I can’t hear what they’re saying. The most recent episode about Simon de Montfort is a good example. Much too...Read full review »

But good content. It’s a pity that the tech aspect overshadows the story, which is generally fascinating

This is a wonderfully informative podcast featuring experts in each topic. It is performed at sites relevant to the story in hand. Helen leads her guests through their interviews without being obstructive. Highly recommended

Really want to enjoy it but the choice to record on location means there is often very distracting background sound. I couldn’t finish the lighthouse episode even though the content was interesting.

This is a great podcast! Each one has been conducted in a way that is interesting to the listener without being “dumbed down” and the experts don’t speak in riddles as with other history focused podcasts. Perfect alternative to watching the TV! I can’t wait to see what’s next - keep them coming...Read full review »

This new history podcast, which oddly shares the same title music as Dan Snow's History Hit (a program on which Helen has worked in the past), needs some work. The sound recording can be uneven, and alas the guest is often allowed to lecture. The material may be interesting but the...Read full review »
