Really excellently put together series. This kind of in-depth research, exposing the limitations and/or negligence of governmental organisations that are meant to keep us safe, creates the body of evidence needed to shame the government into making necessary changes. I would have loved for this...Read full review »

Very well done. A personal note my mother was a social worker for Chicago’s county 20+ years - she started the domestic violence unit in the 90s - it hadn’t existed before that. I’m praying for these families and all families that are affected by domestic violence. Thank you for advocating for...Read full review »

As a journalist and also a victim of domestic violence myself, this series was fascinating and opens up further questions I would be interested in looking into. Let’s hope this kind of journalism leads to real change. Amazing work.

In depth and beautifully put together. A must listen for everyone but especially women.

Brilliant work! But I will have to stop listening right now as it is so shocking that these poor people/families have to go through all this…,,, ……. I did bring myself to listen to the rest and was pleased I did. So good to hear about the work going on to change ‘laws’ and to hopefully, make...Read full review »

This is a great podcast, despite how tragic the subject matter is. Very considered and well produced. Looking forward to more podcasts from Tortoise.

This was excellent, I just wish there were more episodes.

Highly recommend. The depth and breadth of intimate partner violence is seriously underestimated by society and this series highlights this. My only feedback would be to at least give a mention to different kinds of couples, eg trans women are particularly vulnerable to abuse.

Not one mention of a female partner murdering a male. I’m this day I would expect some balance or does that only work in one way? These crimes are terrible, the worst and should be punished as such but this series completely ignores violence against men. Does that not happen or perhaps it’s just...Read full review »

Listening to this podcast in the week that a woman in the UK lost her life (abduction and murder) has been an especially tough context. It has not been an easy listen. However, the team that put this podcast together are extremely talented and it means listeners will never forget these women,...Read full review »

This is a fantastic podcast, focussed on such an important and widespread problem. It’s also extremely inspiring and makes you want to do something, which is the best kind of investigative journalism.

This is the kind of journalism we need more of. Chilling, gripping and shocking but much needed work. Fabulous podcast investigated and presented by Louise Tickle. May those who were killed be counted. RIP
