“I want to like this more than I do, but I find that I can count on the same softball questions of each guest from episode to episode, usually confined to chosen gear, as if the measure of a guest is his/her sleep system or socks rather than the experiences that lead to such a decision (maybe the guest was just cheap, or conversely, retail-therapy to minimize insecurity) or evolved as a result. There seems seldom to be an exploration of the guest’s story, just enough to break the surface tension, but never a deep dive. Just a bunch of hiker names associated with popular UL brands, “luxury items”, starving college student cuisine. Yawn. This podcast desperately needs storytellers who are prompted to talk story.”
