Was super excited to hear Charles Dance narrating, just love his voice, acting and now podcast presenter. The programme is something different too, dramatization of key figures in history, sports & culture. My favourite episode was Madam Mao.

Outstanding and well produced stories of famous people without the American slant. The new series about famous women is outstanding. The author presents a very interesting point of view from subjects thoughts. European and American history has been altered by government’s bias. As a reader you...Read full review »

I listen to a lot of podcasts on my daily commute- this is easily my favourite. Brings to life some historical figures, sometimes less well-known ones to me. Informative and interesting. My only issue is they don’t make new ones quickly enough!

It takes you into all these amazing characters lives and makes you feel you are actually there with them listening to their stories. Is great to learn about people you didn’t know and about people you already admire. I absoluto recommend it!!

Love the narrative, and Charles Dance's voice is amazing to listen to. The only reason I am keeping one star to myself is because the narrator seems to slightly influence a biased “hindsight”, to maintain certain generalizations and popular opinions about “specific” figures.Read full review »

I liked the Lawrence of Arabia ep. It was pretty equally balanced. But Saddam Hussein is by no means a hero. The first half of the ep sounds a bit like an advert for Saddam as President.

Fascinating insight into this legendary character in the context of English & French interests in the Middle East at the beginning of the C20th to WW1. And Charles Dance, the narrator, has such a beautiful voice - simply divine! I gave this podcast 5 stars - can’t fault it.
