Love this podcast. Are we going to get a review of Mary and George soon?

I have been a fan of History of England for years. To say I trust David Crowther‘s assessments of history would be an understatement. I don‘t always agree with him, but he is a very honest historian and an extraordinarily engaging Podcaster. I happily listened recently to the Oppenheimer and...Read full review »

This my favorite podcast. It doesn’t matter to me if I’ve seen the movie or not, I love listening to David and Wolf’s banter as they discuss it. I really hope they will do more in 2023/2024!

Don't come to this thinking you are getting more of the David Crowther of The History of England. This is a bombastic, belligerent, and rather obnoxious Crowther, who comes up with absurdities such as: for Land and Freedom - despite the tens of millions killed by Communists and the hundreds...Read full review »

If only I could watch master and commander for the first time again. What a supremely beautiful film. I let weevils go un-killed to so it’s also environmental. The podcast, sorry. It’s whips of fun. Thank You “Really ready to shoot the French” after the song 😂😂😂 I love you boys.

Love movies. Love history. Love the collision of the two.

What a joy to discover that David has a second podcast! The intergenerational exchange that he and Wolf share is delightful (I’m way closer to David’s era) and helps put the films into context. I’m not very knowledgeable about film but have enjoyed their take on the ones I know (Lion in Winter...Read full review »

Perhaps Dalton Trumbo wrote it. It was so horrendous that I had to stop reading the novel.

Super fun and informative! I really enjoy the variety of movies they pick and how well they summarize the history. 10/10 for entertainment plus 10/10 for historical accuracy!

I love the banter between David and Wolf. They bring up interesting historical and cinematic points. I know that David has been through a lot recently and I wish David well and that he has a full recovery. Also....perhaps selfishly, I’d like to ask if there are any plans to record new episodes...Read full review »

I am an avid podcast listener. Podcasts have improved the quality of my life and my favorite podcaster is David Crowther. I subscribe to over a dozen podcasts and the best two are History of England and History in Technicolor. I am looking forward to the return of History in Technicolor.

David and Wolf (or Wolfy) have a delightful rapport with each other. They're smart, insightful, and hilarious, and their deep dives into these sometimes near-perfect but mostly flawed historical films is something I very much look forward to being a part of as a listener. Fun, easy to listen to podcast. I love listening to David and Wolf discuss movies I’ve seen.

Wolf and David’s banter always brings a smile to my soul and often a chuckle, to boot. Often enough I haven’t seen the film and might very well not get around to it, but it is still great to hear their discussion. The rival line-ups of historical personalities for Bill and Ted’s ... was typical...Read full review »

Well, I was already a huge David C fan thanks to his terrific History of England Podcast when trolling for some other interesting, thought provoking & super nerdy/(or as my fam calls them)weirdo podcasts to listen to whist walking to/from work or scrubbing the pots/pans...voila, I ran across...Read full review »

Now they are just silly, unprepared and think they are terribly entertaining with their immature stupid digressions. I mean “stupid digressions” in both senses because many of these are themselves cracking up about how little they know about the subject.

You two wacky lads had way too much fun with this episode! I always get a giggle from your quips, but this time I nearly died! I’d just taken a hearty swallow of my beverage when the subject of fig leaf comparisons...arose. Well played, sirs.

I’ve been a fan of “The history of England” podcast and a fan of David Crowther, I am now a fan of Wolf too. This is a lighter and more conversational podcast, just as informative, well produced (especially so for two blokes in a shed) and thoroughly engaging. I am now searching out their choices...Read full review »

As a fan of the History of England I was already primed to like this, but have been pleased at how entertaining and thought provoking (to steal another reviewer's words) this is. David Crowther brings his love of history and Wolf his love of cinema for some highly entertaining debate and contrasting perspectives on films. They discuss a diverse array of films and introduce them in a way that stimulates your desire to see the films they discuss.

I’ve loved David’s History of England’s podcast for years. Here he teams up with Wolf, the perfect cohost, for a rollicking look at historical films. I may disagree with some of their conclusions regarding the artistic merit of the films, but I love the journey. After all, that’s what matters....Read full review »

Sometimes you just like/dislike a film without actually really thinking about why... this podcast makes you think about lots of other aspects, not to change your mind about how to feel about it, but just to think more deeply. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Really enjoy this podcast. Oodles of information plus listening to other people’s perspectives is so interesting (even though they are wrong!). Find myself yelling while listening ‘Your wrong’ and ‘You MUST be kidding me!’ Just love to podcasts that make you think. More please Gentlemen😊

It feels sacreligious to give one star to a pod co-hosted by the inimitable David Crowther, but therein lies the rub: it's co-hosted. And the co-host makes the show unlistenable, because you can't listen after throwing your phone at the wall. Regarding the superb historical film A Man...Read full review »
