Excellent, very focused storytelling
When I first looked at the subject of this podcast, I couldn’t stop myself from thinking, “another podcast series on classical Greece/Rome?” Turns out, while this series doesn’t have the detail and background of History of Ancient Greece (also excellent), it surpasses other podcasts in storytelling. This series just rockets ahead, giving you the big picture, and painting memorable portraits on the way. The coverage of Themistocles, for instance, while clearly indebted to Tom Holland’s work, is really sympathetic. It reminds me of the excellent, under appreciated, and now it seems discontinued series The Rhine. Keep up the fine work!

Wow, what a well-researched, natural, unscripted-sounding, information-rich, captivating story. Highly recommend.
