I tried to make it to episode 4, but can’t get past hearing the Socialist BHO’s voice projected as “great” among all of the other legitimately relevant historical audio clips used during the intro. The content is fantastic though. Just my individual opinion.

I hope he’s not done with this show and will make a return at some point, because HITM has answered so many questions I had about ancient Greece. This will be a show I’ll listen to more than once; phenomenal job and great presentation.

Fantastic podcast- takes a complicated topic and makes it seem easy, effortlessly. I hope there is a second season. Great voice as well!

Really well researched and well presented. I find few history podcasts in this format can hold the listener’s attention but the presenter does a great job of keeping me engaged. Rob does a good job of making what can sometimes feel stale and uninteresting, fun and inviting to listen to. While the shows name makes me feel a certain connection between the present and the ancient past (in this respect, the connection of government, of our ideas of justice, our ideas of...Read full review »

Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. If history was presented more often this was in school maybe people would find it more interesting.

Found this recently having just read Thuycidides and Donal Kagans book, Tje Peloponnesus War. It is a great exploration of the same topics and themes but in easy to digest chunks that make too incredible (but complex) books much easier to think about. An amazing show for a good description of a...Read full review »

What makes this podcast so special is how well it transports you into Ancient Athens. You are the citizen at Ecclesia. You are the wife waiting for your husband to return from war. Alas, you are the soldier at sea in the midst of battle. I don’t think I’ve been so eager to learn about the great...Read full review »

Very gripping narrative, exceptional detail and genuine enthusiasm make this one of the clearest overall pictures of Ancient Greece one is likely to find. Great pacing. Nifty introductions as well. A highly bingeable podcast!

I really enjoyed this podcast. The pacing and clarity of the story was note worthy. Added sound effects are nice especially when describing the naval battles. Overall, you put all the important information without taking away from the story: good job!

Wow, loved how Sims takes you into the moment in History... placing you into the very politics, struggles, fears, and literal seats of the Athenian rowers and citizens. My best professors were the ones that would just talk to us, almost like one on one. Of course it was never one on one, maybe one on 20 or 50.. But their delivery was smooth, unpretensious, more like a friend just giving you the low down. I remember those conversations 40 years later. These...Read full review »

Since I started listening to this podcast, I haven’t been able to stop. The stories are detailed, without belabouring the points, and entertaining. I thought I knew a decent amount about Ancient Greece, but this podcast is filling a lot of gaps in my knowledge. Highly recommended.
