Not just a podcast, an impressive work in its own right.
This is an incredibly well researched resource which weaves together a complex narrative and delivers it extremely well. Written histories of SEA can be very difficult to ‘get into’ but Charles Kimball brings it to life. While it undoubtedly deserves to be listened to in sequence, it is more than possible to jump to your country/event/time period of interest and pick up on the story. Charles takes care to refer listeners back to previous episodes for important background in case they missed it, or want to refresh their memory. At the time of writing this review we are just entering the Vietnam war era and I for one am really looking forward to Charles’s narrative on the Second and Third Indochina wars. In particular I am looking forward to his take on the secret wars in Laos and Cambodia.

Charles Kimball gives a well-researched overview of the History of Southeast Asia starting from pre-history to modern times. Love his corny jokes & puns as much as the history.
