The first time I listened to History on Fire it was raining while my girl friend and I were traveling. We couldn’t decide what to listen. Finally she put on History on Fire. I’ll admit that the first time I heard Daniele Boloelli come through the car speakers I was tired and didn’t want to engage...Read full review »

Everything school should be but isn’t. Great subjects great research and such a relaxing accent just keeps you locked in for the ride through history.

Daniele is an astounding storyteller. His understanding and insight on historical moments and the context in which they exist is refreshing and often amusing. As is his ability to connect these moments to current events. The amount of time and hard work he puts into each episode is self-evident....Read full review »

Without a doubt one of the most interesting and intellectually provocative podcasts available. It’s provocative because the Professor does not TRY to push the intellectual envelope, he just does so naturally. On any subject Prof. B makes the listener think. Btw, it takes less than five minutes to...Read full review »

Content is great and well presented. The hmmms are distracting. In a conversation over the phone they make sense but they don't work the same in interviews.Read full review »

Daniele Bolelli is one of the most interesting and incredible narrators ever. He really knows his history and picks only the most interesting topics. I really recommend History On Fire.

This guy does amazing work. If you love history coming alive and rich storytelling, then look no further. I appreciate this so very much. His sense of humor is great too, which doesn’t hurt. I feel extremely lucky to be able to have the time and resources to enjoy this work.

Pick up a topic that interest you and just listen to one episode for experience. There is so much in it that it would be hard to write.

Daniele’s style of storytelling is exceptionally brilliant. His historical accounts are very well researched, superbly well narrated and so interesting. Can listen to him for hours on end.

I’ve been a listener for quite some time. I’ve gone forward and back to catch episodes. Daniele is absolutely amazing and his podcasts are simply fascinating. Thank you for bringing joy to my life, particularly in the past few years. On a side note, I swear, every time he begins his...Read full review »

I love his content and style, but I have to say that his thick (but beautiful!) accent makes it hard to understand what he is saying, at least while listening in my car, which is where I usually listen to podcasts. The road noise is not his fault, so if you only listen with headphones indoors, no...Read full review »

Up there with the history podcasting greats such as Dan Carlin and Mike Duncan. I love the long format - I listen at work and appreciate hearing the adds less frequently and not having to fondle my phone every half hour.

Great series on 19th century American history, especially with respect to western expansion and the fighting between the Lakota and the US government. The episodes are long enough that historical figures and events are shown for what they are: complicated. Also loved Joan of Arc.

Listening to Mr Bolelli feels like a fireside chat to me. It’s like listening to a friend talk. A friend I don’t always understand lol, but makes me hang on every word. Thank you sir, never thought I’d enjoy another history podcast this side of Dan Carlin

Coming from many other history podcasts, i can’t seem to keep engaged in this one. **roughly 23 mins** into the first Joan of Arc episode and it’s all just ads and random tangents and warning the audience about his terrible foreign language pronunciation etc. The actual content seems ok, but it...Read full review »

Ecstasy of Gold is such a perfect intro/outro, it always gets me hyped. At the end of an ep I always do this thing where I visualize the last scene or a montage of the most dramatic parts of the ep as Ecstasy of Gold plays, whether it’s TR arriving at the White House, or Cortez and his 600...Read full review »

This is a fantastic podcast. Very interesting topics and people. My only gripe is, sometimes he goes off topic to explain the background of the situation. He goes kind of deep, and I’m like “get back to the main story”. Besides that podcast is on fire

Such a great way of telling stories. This is not one of those podcasts where they read a script. Daniele Bolelli is more like Dan Carlin, where he knows the material by heart and he just tells a story in a very interesting way. I could listen to this man tell ANY story and it’d be interesting.

I am a native Texan. I was looking for a podcast to pass my long 13 hour night shift. I decided to give it a listen mostly because of the length. Bolelli is very good at the one thing this podcast purports to do: epic and often brutal narratives of war and combat from history. It’s pretty sensationalized (if you want more rigorous historical analysis, listen to In Our Time), but at least that keeps it entertaining and blood-pumping. I...Read full review »
