One of my favorites, here's why
1) fascinating content; from all corners of the globe and eras the content is always interesting and well researched. 2) succinct summary; this is not easy... but it's masterfully done here! To summarize some of these events in 2-3 minutes is a craft and Allsop has honed it. 3) no ads, no chatter; there are no advertisements on this podcast, and to my disappointment, no way to donate found on the site. Intro tone, "hello and welcome to history pod", date, summary, outro tone... DONE. I wish more podcasts followed this model, it's great! 4) this last reason may come across as an insult, but it is NOT... I've suffered from insomnia for 20 years... my mind races rather than relaxing to sleep. Since discovering this podcast 6 months ago, I have been in the habit of saving all the episodes on my phone. When insomnia strikes, I put on previously listened episodes and set the app to turn off in an hour. It's PERFECT! The in and out tones, the soothing even keeled voice, the content is interesting enough but something I've already heard... it's amazing! Thanks!! Keep it up!!Read full review »

More reviews of HistoryPod
This short daily historical update on what happened today in history might go back to Chaucer’s time or may be a couple of years ago. Either way it’s well researched, well told and thoroughly recommended. You’ll be surprised how much you can learn in a quickie 😂

Wish I could figure out how to make this podcast my morning alarm, so each day I could be awakened by a nugget of history goodness.
