“I've listened to all of the podcasts from this duo and have learned a few things here and there. There's lots of good info here, but I will agree that the hosts could use a bit of polish.
Of the two, Miles seems to have a lot more knowledge of brewing and takes the time to research the topic of the week. He provides textbook definitions and moves the conversations along with quizzes he prepares for his co-host. His mic is often quieter than his co-host so it can be challenging to hear him clearly unless you want to be blasted away by the other host.
Casey, the other host, often interrupts his co-host and guests. He has an attitude that comes off as a "know it all" and openly admits he doesn't research anything for the shows, as if it's funny. If this is meant to be informational, it'd be great if you took the time to research the topic. If you want people to listen to 30-45 minutes of a podcast, you could do 20-30 minutes of research. He repeatedly interrupts, over talks, and counters his guests with the opposite of with they're saying. It made this series frustrating for me as there a lot of potential for something great here.
Overall, the show is good. Each one is split in two main halves. It starts with "what brewing/beer related things did you do last week?" Followed by "not much/life got in the way/nothing/consumption". This is followed by about 10 minutes discussing beer/brewing followed by the topic of the week.
Each topic is covered pretty well and a good general understanding of homebrewing is demonstrated by both hosts. I'd recommend this series to anyone new to brewing at home, but more experienced brewers might find themselves frustrated by a lack of advanced brewing techniques and topics.”Read full review »
