Intelligent yet irreverent
The trouble with podcasts about comicbooks is that they usually trend toward fanboys who still think Batman vs. Spider-Man qualifies as good, lively comicbook conversation fodder. If that's what you want to hear there's nothing wrong with that, but I just prefer more talk about the industry as a business model and the work the artists are doing which the hosts here cover with perceptive insight and humor. They treat comicbooks with just the right amounts of respect and irreverence being a medium capable of great artistic achievement but not really trying that hard most of the time. In their reviews there is always a nice mix of new, independent titles and one or two superhero books from the two big houses. Not being able to read as many comics as I would like later in my life, it's nice to hear every other week about some new book, writer or artist and get caught up on industry news. This is definitely one of my must have podcasts right up there with This American Life.Read full review »

I'll listen to their reviews of comics I've never heard of or (thought I) cared about, because the criticism is...Read full review »
