Good Show - Please keep it neutral
Thanks for setting up this local podcast to cover Houston issues, news, updates, etc. Please keep this show neutral in regards to politics. When I first started listening to this podcast it was a little left leaning (unfortunately) with most guests representing liberal democratic viewpoints. I understand that these people are flooding into Houston (no pun intended) and it's changing our landscape, no doubt about that. I do feel that you guys have done a fair job of keeping things neutral but I’d like to encourage that your podcast stay that way instead of going off the deep end. Speaking of flooding, I was listening to the recent podcast regarding the disaster recap and how Houston officials responded, etc. and there was a a female with a foreign accent doing an interview that mentioned something about the identity of a man who was found dead in the flood and how his race was mentioned in the report. Her tone of voice made it sound like she found a problem with that. How is mentioning race an issue? Could you maybe consider that the mention of his race could help identify him in the case that he somehow lost certain identifying features? Race baiting is liberal 101 and that was what prompted me to write this review. Not all of us see our differing colors and ethnic names as a problem - it is what it is. Neither do I see an issue with mentioning specific ethnicities when mentioning a person’s identity i.e. Asian Male, Black Male, White Female, Hispanic, Mexican, whatever. Stop trying to create an issue where there is not. Keep the podcast neutral and you will hopefully see more positive reviews. I appreciate the podcast & thanks for your hard work!Read full review »

More reviews of Houston Matters

Issues they discuss are a little scattered but hopefully they will have days dedicated to certain issues for e.g. Monday - markets/local economy, Tuesday- social, cultural, Wednesday- local and...Read full review »

I used to listen to this show for daily local news. In recent months the fear mongering and aggrandizement of COVID related issues is insufferable. There’s a way of reporting the facts without sensationalizing it, Houston Matters should aim for that goal. Even the tone of the reporting is...Read full review »

I am typically a fan of this show when it’s led by Craig Cohen & I have appreciated the local doctors and scientists that have contributed, but Ernie Manouse is insufferable and the way he treated a guest today by inserting his own political views (the guest had covid - his family got it...Read full review »
