I have been loving this series. I’m a huge fan of the Tenement Museum and since I have not even been able to visit their gift shop during this pandemic, this brings me close to their excellent storytelling and oral history. The host is a great storyteller. I recommend checking this out if you are...Read full review »

This is not just a great introduction to the unique museum, collections, research, and pedagogy of the Tenement Museum, it does a wonderful job of providing the broader picture of immigration history and policy, and bringing it down to the level of the individual. It also really connects these...Read full review »

I love that this podcast brings really interesting takes on immigration, with really good connections to our current country’s state. I love that I get to learn so much about how to be an American.

The struggle of the immigrant to be American is enlightening. But the struggle to be American should be hard for everyone, native born included. Everyone should find a way to serve this country Service before Self.

God Bless the Tenement Museum and its podcast. What a beautiful, smart, engaging way to help us remember our past to help move us to both preserve history and push forward. Both the museum and its podcast are national treasures.

My daughter was 10 when we visited The Oriental Institute in Chicago almost 35 years ago. A docent reminded us that we were looking primarily at the history of wealthy people. That comment always stuck with me. This episode gives hope that it’s possible to recover and piece together histories...Read full review »

Listened to burial grounds and it makes me want to check out the tenement museum once the Rona is over. A story of Black ancestors resilience is exactly what i needed this morning

Having visited the museum and enjoyed their approach to sharing history I have been listening to this podcast since the start. The 1st ep of season 2 about stickball was excellent. I fell in love with baseball on my first trip to NY 4 years ago but had never heard of stickball. Next time I’m in...Read full review »

Fun beginning to kick off season, almost in time for spring training. Real emotional kicker at the end, the way seemingly small things like games really define family and culture through generations.

As a migrant and American citizen, it has been very difficult to assimilate into American society due to race issues. As trump continues his journey with white supremacy and the all white senate, minus one Uncle Tom, riding his coattails, we will have a very volatile nation. White America does...Read full review »

I finally got around to this podcast. Here's my take: I learned nothing about 'how to be American.' The draw of the Tenement Museum is the wide breadth of topics covered at the museum. I've been there a couple of times, and it's an immersive history experience...the guides...Read full review »

Only two episodes so far but what a terrific listen. If you've been on one of the museum's tours, you'll enjoy hearing them talk about the people who lived at or inthe neighborhood around 97 Orchard, the tenement building on the Lower East Side through which they tell the story of...Read full review »

First episode started so well. Two women, two stories. First one excellent with so many little known details. The second part a complete opposite no details just emotions. How did she legalize? What was her journey? Instead just emotions that every single immigrant legal or illegal goes through.

Would sincerely appreciate if there is an episode on legal immigration system
