Seasons 1-4 have been great seasons of this podcast. But seasons 5 and 6 are getting a little too woke. They’re starting to add their opinion about Virginia history instead of reporting Virginia’s great history. I hope in future seasons, the producers’ goal isn’t to convince us that Virginia and...Read full review »

I am relatively new to podcasts. I just started listening to yours late last season (5). That said, I’m loving learning about local Virginia history. Thanks so much for your great work. Gerry M

Hey everyone, I’m a 34 year old Richmonder from south of the James River. To be honest with you I have never been one to listen to podcast or even understood the purpose behind them. Hi found this podcast by shear accident! Oh I was searching for 12 news channels on my phone but I did not realize...Read full review »

I really enjoy listening to this podcast. I love Virginia history and this covers a lot of different things a little bit heavy on the Civil War. But other than that I really do enjoy it a lot. I’ve learned a lot about things that I did not know and I love trivial history items that are covered in...Read full review »

This podcast is so engaging and interesting. As a former teacher in Virginia who had to teach Virginia studies, I’m fascinated to learn more background information on the topics I spoke about daily with my students. I love how the topics focus on a single week in history but can span centuries....Read full review »

Written 11/2020: Glad to hear there will be a 4th season and glad to hear I don’t have to wait a full year for a new season. I’ve been addicted to this podcast since first stumbling across it when you were just a couple episodes in. There are so many great episodes, it’s almost impossible to...Read full review »

Really like the premise of this podcast and most of the content. They try way, way too hard to be funny and the giggles are killing me. To the point that I might have to stop listening. Trust me, if you are funny, you don’t have to giggle like a girl at your own jokes. Be yourself, but...Read full review »

I very much enjoy listening to this podcast! Ms. DePompa does her research into her podcasts. She is also very impartial. Worth the listen!

I have listened to all three seasons and have loved every minute! Each episode keeps me enthralled. I have lived in Virginia since I was five years old, I am now seventy. And I learn something new with each episode. Well done, Rachael and crew!

Having lived near Richmond my entire 75 years, I have learned more from these podcasts than I ever learned in class or on museum visits. The amount of detail in each segment is fantastic.

These stories are told in a way that’s easy to understand and so easy to binge. Rachel’s storytelling ability is so good that you can close your eyes and feel as if you’re there in the most prolific moments of our Commonwealth’s history.

On episode one of season one, you said that In 1781 Jack Jouett warned people that would go on to sign the Declaration of Independence. That document was signed in 1776. Did you mean the Constitution?

I like the content and Rachel is trying to stay true to the history but it’s too overproduced. The sound effects are excessive and distracting. I can’t play it on road trips because it bothers my passengers. Take a cue from Backstory, another (nearly) locally produced history podcast, and tone it...Read full review »

Rachel's been dying to do a podcast for years, and now that she (and Colten & Kate) has one, she's absolutely crushing it.
