Paleo-artists John Gurche and Karen Carr will discuss the science and techniques behind their work for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History's Hall of Human Origins. John will also unveil his newest early human bronze sculpture.

Dr. C. K. ("Bob") Brain, emeritus, University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), presents his lecture "Where Has Science Come From? Investigating Some Ancient Roots of Intelligence and Technology in the Fossil Record". This lecture was given May 6, 2010.

In illustrated presentations, Dr. Nicholas Conard addresses the question of why figurative art and music began. This lecture, "The Origins of Art 35,000 Years Ago: What Were They Thinking?," was held April 5, 2010.
