“But I just listened to an episode about women and men and felt like the person being interviewed was very thoughtful about the issues but Erin was very dogmatic and described a condition of how young men were being raised that hasn’t been the case for decades. As a Gen X mom of a son Gen Z boys were not raised the way she described- these boys come from two parent households in almost all cases and were not raised to think that women will serve them and their dads cooked and their moms travelled for work. Also, her reaction to the story of women wanting men who earn 500k and are over 6 feet tall was to say that these standards indicated that women were looking for ways to improve their lives. This is a crazy comment that the only way to improve your life is to find a rich, tall man.
All that said I normally love Erin and Allysa- but a more thoughtful approach to these difficult problems would be greatly appreciated. The problem of young men goes far beyond whether or not women need men to marry. We need to work with men, we need them to vote with us and not against us, and we need acknowledge that young men are struggling and we need to be thoughtful about it. I don’t worry for my own son as he is kind, over 6 feet tall and while only 16 is likely to do just fine.”
