I was too and this podcast is a great place to explore and unpack what we were.

This podcast is amazing! So many much needed conversations take place. I appreciate the experiential, and fairly neutral mindset of this podcast. It is helpful to wrap your mind around many of concepts taught and experiences of growing up in fundamentalism and being a fundamentalist. Regardless...Read full review »

I’m new to IWATF and was introduced to it by my friends Sharon and Tracey, who I worked with at Last Days Ministries in the early 80’s, and that you interviewed here. I was also a part of their Keith Green plane crash episode. I just finished your Cult hacking today and your Bart Ehrman earlier...Read full review »

Really appreciate this show, the hosts personal, open style of sharing, how well they listen to and affirm their guests, the quality of guests they regularly host, and how they strive to be honest and objective about what’s really happening in churches everywhere. Thank you gents!

I like that the tone is (mostly) not judgy and angry, but allows a full exploration of people’s experiences. The Geoff Bullock interview was particularly fascinating, as that’s our vintage.

These guys really know how to bring the truly ridiculousness of fundamentalist Christianity alive. And their insider connections mean their guests are of a very high calibre. With the hosts’ Aussie slant, you know it will be irreverent. Def 5 star quality.

This podcast is the best for those of us who are looking towards new pathways after deconstruction and dealing with religious trauma. Brian and Troy are vulnerable in sharing their own stories, but do so with humour and warmth. I’m enjoying all the guest speakers and have totally binged the back...Read full review »

Listening to Brian and Troy and their guests telling their stories has been both fascinating and cathartic. Doesn’t matter if you left fundamentalism in 1993 or 2023, the stories are familiar, and it’s both helpul and entertaining to hear them told from the distance of a decade or two, with the...Read full review »

I’m an ex-AOG member (West Midlands, Uk). This organsisation monopolised my energy, time and resources for years. Thank goodness I walked away. So glad this pod is here for folk like me. Great guests as well. Thanks B & T - for the insight and helping me to begin to heal from the abuse 👍

What a great podcast. Reflects my history and is really healing. Well produced and great conversations.

Having just listened to the 2 podcasts on Keith Green I am so sad, it is like my childhood has taken another crumble. I have spent today listening to all his albums on Spotify and instantly knew every word, wow he was influential. I have been out of the church scene for so long but still working...Read full review »

Trying to understand just how much a cult upbringing impacts your life is really difficult. this podcast goes a LONG way in helping me unpack some of what I’ve repressed, that I’ve hidden in shame and caused me to despise myself. As a former Christian who fully drank the Kool-Aid, I have absolutely loved listening to people I can relate to on multiple topics. They manage to not bash religion, while telling stories of their own lives which highlight many of the issues in their own lives because of organized religion.

This show can become compulsive listening. If you have been in fundamentalist religion and Pente /evangelical circles for a long period of time you will relate to the stories they tell and the revelations that unfold. There will be lots of aha moments as you discover what was going on. But, it...Read full review »

I love this podcast and the Facebook group that accompanies it. It’s raw and honest. It’s like therapy for ex-fundies. It’s so powerful to listen to the podcast and realise that the path to the deconstruction of the harm religion does is not unique.

Great Podcast! Episode 62 hit me hard as I am similar in age to the hosts (I might be a couple of years older) but my story is so much like Andrew.

This podcast is a revelation for people who have never been in this type of church but to those who have been, it rings true.

The stories told by the hosts and the interviews conducted paint a very clear picture of the dangers of mega churches and evangelical churches.
evangelical killer via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 02/04/23
This podcast is unique in that it offers an Australian perspective on Evangelicalism. That said though, much of what the hosts talk about and say will resonate with Exvangelicals from all over the world. The podcast is funny and insightful. Definitely worth your time.

If I was to make a podcast then this would be the one I would make. I listen to it all the time because it’s just so good. Give it a listen.

This is a fascinating podcast. Some elements of my own journey are very similar, some are very different… But that is what listeners will get a lot from this show - being able to sample from a diverse range of stories and perspectives. These guys are excellent at unravelling the topic of fundamentalist Christianity. They’re easy to listen to and are respectful to everyone who is either leaving, left or are a part of the Christian culture. Great guests. Great dudes. Great show.

I grew up in English and American Charismatic Evangelical churches and the experiences the hosts discuss on this podcast are the closest to my experiences of any podcast I’ve yet to listen to on the topic. Heard these guys on Radio National and started binging this podcast. Super interesting. T and B access deep aspects of their own vulnerability relating to their experiences in the Pentecostal church. Great guests as well. Good job.

This is an excellent show. I, too, was a teenage fundy, starting life in a crazy hyper-Calvinist sect, then the Brethren, and, after that, some weird and wild charismania. I am still a (progressive) Christian and preacher. I like the honesty and non-judgementalism of this podcast, and highly...Read full review »

Thank you for the Geoff Bullock episode. Geoff was wonderfully candid. Wonderful questions too. The interviewers really allowed Geoff just to speak and reflect. Courageous opening up from Geoff. Thank you for sharing such a personal story. Look forward to listening to other episodes in this podcast.

Thank you so much for this episode, and to Geoff for being willing to share his experiences, that can’t have been easy. I was an extreme fundamentalist in my teens and early 20’s. I grew up in the “Buckle of the Bible Belt” in the US and went to an independent Pentecostal church and attended AOG youth rallies and camps in the 90’s and early 2000’s. I can related to so many of the stories on this podcast. While it...Read full review »

As a former teenage fundamentalist myself I've found that listening to each episode has been quite emotional. Much of what B & T share of their experiences in Pentecostal churches mirrors mine.
