Unexpected golden nuggets
I’ve just finished listening to Iain’s interview with Johann Hari focused primarily on his book related to the causes of depression. I almost skipped this one due to the subject matter and planned to listen to the first few minutes and then skip to the next one in my backlog. However I’m so pleased I didn’t. The first 1/2 of the interview is focused on promoting the book, which Johann does very well, no doubt thanks to great coaching by his publisher. But the golden nugget for me was the last 10 mins where they swerve into an apparently unplanned aside on the underlying causes of the political issues in the US & UK (and in my view also in France where I’m living) and how the underlying causes of how the “dispossessed” live (and now vote) can be traced back to our society’s dependence on chemical solutions to social issues. THANKS! Ps to the podcast editor, please drop the volume a notch on the “ident inserts” which blast out unexpectedly loudly at random moments. V painful :-)

More reviews of Iain Dale’s Book Club
I really do enjoy all Ian’s podcasts. I try to remain as neutral as I can but I gave up halfway through with this woman. I don’t know where to begin, so I won’t! Onto the next one.

2 star rating for this contributor only. Fairly pointless talking to SG who seems unwilling to countenance anyone else’s point of view. Have listened to several other ‘Book Clubs’, including Nicky Campbell, Peter Dickson, Andrea Leadsom, Chris Bryant- all 5 star interviews. If you’ve listened to...Read full review »
