“I enjoyed Dr. Imani’s first podcast. It was very informative and it gave great advice on how to deal with your feelings during this pandemic and how she deals with it too. The great thing about Dr. Imani is that she is a person of color. In the black and brown communities they don’t seek mental health because of the stigma attached to having a mental illness. I am a African American female and I was diagnosed as Bipolar about two and a half years ago. I have a Psychiatrist that I see and I’m on medication that I take like clockwork. It was hard at first accepting that I had a mental illness. I was 46 years old when I was diagnosed. My mother had the hardest time with accepting it and she still doesn’t. I think more people of color may seek help after listening to Dr. Imani’s podcast. That is my wish, getting treated for mental illness is so very important and sometimes can be a matter of life or death. I’m looking forward to listening to the next one.”
