It’s all about rapport...
I’m an addiction counselor and I often brag I would be a great cop. People tell me things they don’t plan on telling me, things they ‘shouldn’t’ tell me every day. Because I listen without judgement and assume they are doing the best they can. That’s how Naama gets these men to talk and it is how we get to hear things that are completely new in the debate around incels. It takes time, and I love a deep dive, so I am here for it. As a hardcore feminist, I would think one thing women could find some empathy for is the idea that looks are not a representation of worth. (As a side note, slamming women in media for vocal fry has always struck me as rank misogyny.) Lack of connection caused this phenomena and only attempts at connection will resolve the issues at the heart of it. Keep going, Naama, it’s important.
